St. Ann's Basilica.

The solemn dedication of the Basilica of the National Shrine of St.Ann takes place in October of 1997. There are more than 20,000 Cathholic churches in the United States, but less than 40 are basilicas. St. Ann's will be the fifth in Pennsylvania. The church which is off Main Avenue in Scranton, just down from the Houdini Museum, draws between 1,500 and 2,000 people for its novena service every Monday. The summertime novena brings out 10,000. These numbers are now expected to increase.
